The Ada Initiative’s non-profit program work is a mix of community outreach, community resource development, policy and training.
Here’s a list of the major program work we currently support:
Events: AdaCamp and AdaCon
AdaCamp is a series of small unconferences bringing together people interested in women in open technology and culture from across many different communities. We hope it will spark new ideas, spread best practices, and be a catalyst for change. Find out more.
Public Speaking
The Ada Initiative staff are experienced trainers and presenters. Find out more.
Anti-harassment policy advocacy
Inspired by multiple reports of groping, sexual assault, and pornography at open tech/culture conferences, the Ada Initiative co-founders helped write and promote an example conference anti-harassment policy for modification and reuse by conference organizers. This example was the collaborative effort of many different conference organizers and community members, who all deserve thanks and credit. Find out more.
The Ada Initiative staff have given trainings and workshops customized for interested organizations. We wrote and taught four free workshops teaching practical skills to men wanting to help women and trans people in open/tech culture. Find out more about the training material.
