The Ada Initiative has received a lot of requests to pass on open technology and culture related job postings. Our long-term plan is to start the Ada’s Careers community, but in the short term, we will consider retweeting job postings if they mention @adainitiative on Twitter.
- Job opening must be primarily related to open technology and culture
- Employer must be actively seeking to create a positive workplace environment for all, including women
- One retweet per company per month
- Small, social justice-oriented, or non-profit employers much more likely to be retweeted
We’re not going to become a spam bot, but until we get Ada’s Careers up and going, we hope that retweeting a great job opening aimed specifically at women in open technology and culture once or twice a day will be a service to our community. (Tweet us if you disagree!)
Did you read about great job but weren’t sure if you qualified? Consider that women are far more likely to rate themselves as unqualified for a job and estimate their abilities lower than men with equivalent experience. Read up on Impostor Syndrome as well (including this great story about Impostor Syndrome). We’re working on teaching employers to write job descriptions in a way that is more likely to attract women as well.
