Wikimedia Foundation sponsors AdaCamp DC

We are pleased to announce our first AdaCamp DC gold sponsor: the Wikimedia Foundation!

Wikimedia Foundation

The Wikimedia Foundation is the non-profit organization that operates Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wiktionary, Wikiquote, and many other free, multi-lingual content web sites. Wikimedia Foundation’s sponsorship is through a grant from the Wikimedia Grants Program, which is open to the public and is designed to “fund mission-aligned innovation-focused programs and activities through our grants program, and to offer non-financial assistance.”

The Ada Initiative supports the Wikimedia Foundation’s goal of doubling the participation of women editors to 25% over the next 5 years. Due to AdaCamp DC’s co-location with Wikimania 2012, we expect many sessions at AdaCamp DC to be focused on increasing women’s participation in Wikimedia projects.

AdaCamp DC will be July 10 – 11, 2012, in Washington, DC. Applications for AdaCamp DC are open until June 29 June 15, 2012!

We thank our AdaCamp Silver level sponsors: The Linux Foundation, Intel, Facebook, Red Hat, Collabora, and Yammer.
