Were happy to announce that Selena Deckelmann, Ada Initiative advisor, PostgreSQL expert, and open source community leader, has accepted a position as Consulting Director of Development at the Ada Initiative. Selena begins work in July on developing a long-term funding strategy for the Ada Initiative, in addition to contributing to our mission and strategy.
Selena is a major figure in the open technology and culture community whose contributions are too numerous to list here. She has worked as a leader and developer in open source projects, organized and fundraised for community events, and supported and encouraged women in open technology and culture. A small sampling of her work includes contributing to open source software database PostgreSQL as a developer and community leader, giving a keynote talk at the SCALE 10X Linux conference, and founding the Open Source Bridge (OSBridge) conference.
Selena has an unusual mix of experience in open tech/culture, fundraising, and business that makes her uniquely qualified for this job,” says Valerie Aurora, Executive Director of the Ada Initiative. For her part, Selena says Getting more women involved open technology and culture is important, and I’m glad to work with the Ada Initiative to make that happen.”
Now that we have our organisational structure in place, the Ada Initiative is ready for long-term planning and settling on a strategy for growth. Were thrilled to have Selenas expertise and energy at this crucial time for the organisation.
